Earl Baumgartner NEW LISBON, Ind. Earl "Joe" Baumgartner, 83, of rural New Lisbon, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at his home after a long illness. He was born May 23, 1916, in Jennings County to Alfred Earl and Lura Foreman Baumgartner. He lived in the New Lisbon area for 73 years.
He was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church for more than 50 years and at one time he had 29 years of perfect attendance. He was a member of the United Auto Workers for 30 years. He worked at Chrysler in New Castle for 10 years and retired from Wayne Works in Richmond in 1982 after 23 years. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Avis M. Rogers Baumgartner; three sons, Joe Lee Baumgartner of Anderson, James Earl Baumgartner of New Castle and David Eugene Baumgartner of Rochester, five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Maudie Hunt of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.
