International Students

The mission of the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) is to provide information, services, and programs that help international students achieve their individual educational and personal goals. Find out more about your visa status, employment, taxes, and much more.

  • Curricular Practical Training (CPT) – MPH students can use it to do their internship off-campus
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT) – MPH students are eligible for 12 months of OPT

Transportation

  • Niner Transit Bus Service is a fare-free campus bus service that runs seven days a week with four different lines and connects to the light rail and Charlotte Area Transit (CATS). Use the Passio GO! app to access transit and paratransit locations, arrival estimates, and schedules.
  • Niner Paratransit provides disability transport for those with mobility impairments who register for the service.
  • Campus Parking Information

Unlimited access to the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) LYNX light rail, streetcar, Special Transportation Service, and local and express CATS buses is included with your student fees. Be sure to take advantage!

Getting Involved

GPHA

The Graduate Public Health Association (GPHA) is the graduate student organization of all graduate-level public health programs at UNC Charlotte. The purpose of GPHA is to provide an atmosphere that supports graduate students interested in public health jobs in advancing their academic and professional goals, ambitions, and careers.

GPSG

The (GPSG) serves as the primary representative body of graduate and professional students at UNC Charlotte. The organization is designed to meet the academic, social, and logistical needs of the graduate and professional student body, totaling more than 5,400 students, and all of the registered Graduate Student Organizations.

GPSG Graduate Research Symposium

The annual Graduate Research Symposium (GRS) is an interdisciplinary graduate student-run conference that showcases the astounding research of graduate and professional students. All graduate students who are conducting or have conducted research are encouraged to present at the GRS.

Niner Engage

Niner Engage is a great resource for discovering various opportunities, such as joining student organizations, attending events, and staying informed about campus activities!

Travel Funding

GPSG Travel Fund

GPSG sets aside a certain amount of its funding each year to help graduate students travel to academic and professional conferences that benefit their education while positively representing UNC Charlotte at these events.

MPH Program

When able, the MPH Program supports student conference travel. A limited number of students attend the American Public Health Association Annual Conference each year. The call for applications for support is sent out during the summer to current MPH students. Other conference opportunities are also supported. However, funding is not guaranteed.

The Graduate School

The Graduate School has many resources for funding graduate education. They also post travel funding opportunities periodically, so be sure to check back often!

Hire-A-Niner

UNC Charlotte’s Hire-A-Niner is an extensive career and job search resource for both current students and graduated alumni. Hire-A-Niner is the University Career Center’s central management system for off-campus job postings, on-campus job postings, career fairs, career events, on-campus interviewing, and more. Students and alumni can search career paths, learn about leading industries, take career quizzes, and explore part-time, full-time, and internship opportunities. MPH Job Board

The UNC Charlotte MPH Job Board posts relevant job opportunities (full- and part-time, short-term, and internships). It also has links to websites that focus on public health jobs.

Alumni Email

The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association is pleased to offer email addresses for alumni! The Alumni Email program provides UNC Charlotte graduates who have received a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or Doctorate degree with a free @alumni.charlotte.edu email account via Gmail, the University’s current email service.

Alumni Association

The college experience does not end at graduation. Your connection to UNC Charlotte lasts a lifetime and you will always be a part of Niner Nation. The UNC Charlotte Alumni Association believes in strengthening connections and inspiring students, alumni, and administration to advance the institution, city, region, and beyond. Graduates are automatically members of the Alumni Association and there are no dues to participate.
